How To Get  Your Ghana Citizenship

Here are 5 ways of acquiring citizenship in ghana. If you are  foreigner you can get citizenship in Ghana through the following:

  • citizenship by birth,
  • citizenship by marriage,
  • citizenship by neutralization,
  • dual citizenship,
  • citizenship by adoption or registration.

Are you looking for Ghanaian citizenship or second cititzenship in Africa? Ghana has open hands welcoming African diaspora or African descent who wish to obtain Ghanaian citizenship. You can apply for ghana citizenship as diasporan. To be candid, submitting dual nationality application in Ghana and the process can be stressful. I’m going to be talking about how you can obtain a kind of citizenship and also show you how you can get your Ghanaian citizenship if you are non-Ghanaian. You probably heard of Ghanaian citizenship during the year of return.

Over the past three years President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  has given 126 citizenship to African diasporas . There is misinformation that Ghana is giving  free citizenship. Those who were giving free citizenship was part of year of return initiative and selected number of people were selected. Some diasporans have been living in Ghana for many years but were not part of that list. That doesn’t mean you can’t  get yours. Generally, you just have to live in the country for couple of years and to prove your background.

Beside Ghana free citizenship, there are other African countries that offer citizenship to African American which include: South Africa and Sierra Leone are on top of my head. Others are following suit. I understand some countries offer permanent residence or citizenship by investment, for example Turkey, Portugal, Cyprus, Spain, Malta, Dominica, Grenada, etc .This is normally for High networth Individuals with deep pockets. Ghana however, doesn’t have a well structured program in place however if you contribute to the economy, you could granted citizenship.

In fact there are actually different ways of getting dual citizenship Ghana and USA. Also, I’m going to discuss about who qualifies for these citizenship and walk you through on how you can actually go about it. But first, a disclaimer, consider this as not a legal advice in any standard.

Dual citizenship policy is argued to create the following benefits.
