How much is average Rent for Apartment in Accra per Month?
Depending on the location of the property, the size, the amenities and features, the condition of the apartment, here is average rent in Accra:
- 1 bedroom apartment: 1,800 GHS to 4,000 GHS (approximately $308 USD to $686)
- 2 bedroom apartment: 2,800 GHS to 7,000 GHS (approximately $480 USD to $1,198)
- 3 bedroom apartment: 4,000 GHS to 11,000 GHS (approximately $686 USD to $1,884)
- 4 bedroom apartment: 7,000 GHS to 18,000 GHS (approximately $1,198 USD to $3,085)
I was sitting in a balcony shipping my cup of green tea and shoveling doughnuts and a call came from a diasporan looking to move back to Ghana enquiring “how much is average rent for apartment in Accra per month? So i did a research on that and the above rents is the average. However, most Ghanaian at the bottom of the barrel rent ranges from 250GH to 500GHS per month.

House For Rent in Ghana For Expariate
I must say that rent are pretty for expensive. According to GIPC the average rents for expats for a 3bedroom homes ranges from US$ 45,000 to US$ 60,000 annually. And the price of a two bedroom house with kitchen and washroom range averagely about U$D 50,000 annually. Please not that due to unstable of GHS these prices will fluctuate …. always upward spiral.
With that said, let’s look at most desirable locations to rent a house in Accra.
1.Cantonments
Cantonments is a prime residential area for the wealthy individuals that is also popular among expats and professionals. There are a mix of modern apartments and traditional Ghanaian architural houses, with easy access to amenities such as shopping centers, restaurants, and international schools. You can’t go wrong here.
2.Airport Residential Area
As i discussed above about houses this neighborhood also has countless luxury apartments for rent in Accra is the Airport Residential Area. This affluent area is in proximity to the Kotoka International Airport and offers a range of modern apartments, townhouses, and villas. The best part is that it’s a great area if you are looking for a convenient location with easy access to the airport and other amenities but you need bigger pocket as rents here are very expensive.

3.Spintex Road
Used not to be desirable but because of rapidly development in the recent years in the area, it is has become one of the prime locations, offering range of modern apartments and townhouses for rent. It’s a popular choice for young professionals and families who are looking for affordable housing options in a convenient location.
4.Dzorwulu
Hands down, Dzorwulu is an upscale neighborhood that offers a range of luxurious apartments for rent. It could be ideal location for you if you are looking for a quiet and serene environment with easy access to the city center.
5.Osu
Of course nightlife location -Osu offers a range of apartments for rent from high to affordable prices depending on your financial strength. It’s also popular choice for students, tourist and young professionals who want to be close to the nightlife, shopping, and entertainment varieties that the city has to offer.

If you are new to Accra make sure you rent where you can afford. Don’t rent in these top location unless you have the means to sustain paying rent otherwise you will go broke pretty fast. Explore other less expensive areas.
Finally, you should keep in mind that this pricing are not fixed. Most landlords are very firm on their price and wont budge.
